Fantastic Vintage Early 1970s ~1970-1971 Hasbro Romper Room Mr. Do Bee Dump Truck & Shovel No. 551 New in the Original Box. Incredible to find this in such nice condition and with the original box! Estate fresh find! It appears to be new ans unplayed with, though there is some discoloration on some of the chrome from age. Hasbro bought the rights to Romper Room in 1969 and produced many toys and games thereafter so I am pretty confident that this was made by Hasbro. There is, however a very similar truck body that was made by Buddy L around the same time so it could possibly be made by Buddy L too. The only marking on the underside of the truck is "JAPAN". The last photo is a scan of a Romper Room ad from a 1971 issue of Housekeeping Magazine that features this same Toy Truck. Overall it is in amazing, almost new condition. I still believe it was never played with, but due to some slight discoloration on the chrome and a few other small signs of age, I'll call it "like new". The original box is also in very nice condition but does have some wear and tear including a puncture on the top side. Please see photos for best idea of condition. The dumping mechanism works perfectly and smoothly and the wheels spin properly too. It doesn't look like the Shovel has ever been removed and I left it that way- I have not taken it off so I have not seen the other side but I'd assume still "like new". The truck measures approximately 7 3/4" long x 4 5/8" wide x 4 1/2" tall with the truck bed down and up to 6 1/2" tall with the bed raised up. Box measures 8" long x 5" tall x 4 3/4" wide.
